3 Year Old Class
Mondays and Wednesdays: 9:00-11:00 a.m. or
Fridays: 9:00-11:00 a.m.
4 & 5 Year Old Class
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8:45-11:15 a.m.
Pre-Kindergarten Class
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 12:00-3:00 p.m.
Geared toward older 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds
OUR INSTRUCTORS
Mary Niehues (pronounced NEE-hoos) has been a teacher at Sunshine Corner for 14 years, three of those as director of the program. Aide Mary Brady has been teaching for three years. Both are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services as a teacher and teacher aide, respectively. Together they teach a curriculum that nurtures students' gifts, encourages creativity and confidence, and develops successful kindergartners.
OUR CLASSROOM
We’re located on a sunny corner of the YMCA, where our large windows let in the light. Students can cook pretend feasts in the small kitchen, paint pictures at the easels, or dress up with friends at the costume trunks. They can delve their hands into sand or other delights at the sensory table, cozy up to a book on our bright shape carpet, or climb up the rungs on our mini jungle gym. Small circular tables encourage working together in groups, and yellow walls make our space cheery even on cloudy days.
