You set the agenda by working with the instructor to determine goals. Curriculum is customized to meet these goals.
Private swim lessons are available in 1, 5 or 7 lesson packages, and can begin at any time. To arrange lessons, contact the Y’s Aquatic Director with the below information:
Please communicate your current ability & your goals for the lessons, your preferred days and times, and how often you would like to do the lessons, so they can schedule an instructor who meets your needs. You can fill out the Private Lesson Intake form and email it or drop it off at the Y.

Together, the instructor, participant and/or parent determine the goals for the session and the curriculum is customized in order to meet these goals.
WHY PRIVATE LESSONS?
Learning how to swim is not only a lifelong way to exercise but is also a way to be safe around the water. Private lessons give participants individualized attention to help them improve or master their swimming skills at every age and ability. The instructor, participants and parents work together to determine lesson goals.

Q: How do I register for private lessons?
A: Complete the attached private lesson interest form and return it to the member service desk or contact Nickie Swenson, Aquatic Director
Q: What time are the lessons?
A: Lessons will be scheduled at times that are convenient for both you and the instructor.
Q: When do I pay for the lessons?
A: You can pay for your lessons when your first lesson is scheduled. No later than the first day of the private lesson.
Q:How many lessons should I purchase?
A: It depends on the goals of the lesson. Most people purchase a minimum of 5 lessons to start and then decide whether they want to purchase more after that.
Q: What if I want multiple children taught at the same time?
A: Many parents choose to have 2 or 3 children taught at the same time. That is when families should choose the Semi-Private option. All children could be from the same family or friends that can share the cost of the lesson.
