The Red Wing Y has a Teen Center, a Youth-In-Government program and many activities that allow the teens to be involved with others their age. They can also get involved in fitness programs that will help them stay active and healthy throughout their life. The YMCA Teen Center is open to kids 3rd grade and older. Children under 3rd grade must be supervised by an adult or parent. Adults who wish to use the Teen Center during unsupervised time should ask at the Customer Service Counter.
After School Sports Program offers a different sport each month and is open to all 6th, 7th & 8th graders, YMCA membership is not required.. It will be held on Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 pm. Transportation from Twin Bluff is available, if needed for $.50 per ride. Students may participate in as many sports as they choose. Registration and payment are required for each sport. The cost per sport is $20 per player, FREE for Y members.

The YMCA is partnering with ArtReach to provide art classes for middle school students in our community. Classes will be directed by ArtReach, but held at the YMCA. AIT will be held on Thursday afternoons from 2:30-4:00 pm. Transportation from Twin Bluff will be available, if needed, for $.50 per ride. Students may register for classes individually or for the whole session. Registration and payment are required.
Class Dates & Themes: Class 1 - October 2nd - Cartoon Drawing, Class 2 - October 9th - Textiles, Class 3 - October 23rd - Mixed Media, Class 4 - October 30th - Water Color Painting, Class 5 - November 6th - Tie Dye, Class 6 - November 13th - Jewelry, Class 7 - November 20th - Book Making.
Cost per class: $17.50 per student, $12.50 for YMCA members
TEEN STRENGTH TRAINING PROGRAM
This program is designed for high school aged youth, grades 9-12, who are interested in working out. The Teen Strength Training Program is a one hour course supervised by a YMCA trainer. It will teach the teens how to properly use the weight equipment, cardiovascular machines, and the importance of stretching. This program is done by appointment only, to schedule an appointment contact Stephen McKenzie.
Cost: $20 per appointment
PACT - Parent and Adolescent Conditioning Training
This program is designed for middle school age youth (grades 6th-8th) who are interested in working out. The YMCA has created a program that makes it easier for them to get started on the road to fitness.
PACT brings together teens and their parents for a course supervised by a certified personal trainer. The session will last approximately one hour. Participants will learn fitness basics, such as cardiovascular conditioning, strength training and stretching. After completion of the course, teens and a parent may work out together in the Wellness Center.
PACT program is done by appointment only, to schedule an appointment, contact Stephen McKenzie.
Cost: $20 per family
The YMCA will be hosting Middle School Dances on Friday nights throughout the school year. The dances will be held from 8:00-10:00 pm. They are chaperoned by YMCA staff and parent volunteers. Middle School ID is required to participate in a dance. Parents interested in chaperoning are encouraged to call Josh Thygesen.

Cost: $5 per person ($1:00 from each participant will be donated to a local charity.)
Youth in Government is a fun, hands-on way for teens to learn about government and how it works. It is open to all students in grades 8-12, space is limited to 75. An informational meeting will be held in September 15, 2008 at 6:00 pm for all new participants and at 7:00 pm for past participants. Interested students and parents are encouraged to attend.
