One Week Safety Around Water- Ages 3 and Up 

This is a week long class that helps children work on drowning prevention skills such as:

-submerging face (this helps them to remain calm when submersion happens)
-swim float swim (this allows them to move themselves and take breaks for longer distances when tired)
-jump, push, turn, grab (this teaches them to return to the wall or boat when they fall in the water unexpectedly)

These skills give children the ability to be safe around water.

They will also learn about topics such as reach, throw, dont go, calling 911, cpr, backyard pool safety, life jackets and boating.  

BEGINNERS will work on 
submerging their faces
front glide
exiting the water
jumping in independently 

ADVANCED will work on 
submerging (bobbing)
back float
swim float swim
Jump, push, turn, grab
and some basic front and back swimming

Competitive Pathway

This pathway will be available for registration this summer!

 

Aquatic Conditioning is an opportunity for students who have completed the ARC & YMCA Swim Lessons to work towards competitive swimming. The program focus is on continuing to build endurance and stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

 

Private Swim Lessons

$80 for a pack of 10 Lessons 

1 on 1 swim lessons with a certified swim instructor. 

 

Learning how to swim is not only a lifelong way to exercise but is also a way to be safe around the water. Private lessons give participants individualized attention to help them improve or master their swimming skills at every age and ability. The instructor, participants and parents work together to determine lesson goals.

How do I register for private lessons?

Email Nickie Swenson, nswenson@redwingymca.org. She will send a private lesson intake form to get a good idea of what you as a family are looking for and your availability. 

What time are the lessons?

Lessons will be scheduled at times that are convenient for both you and the instructor. We will have some pre-scheduled times online that you can register for if any of those work for your family.

When do I pay for the lessons?

You can pay for your lessons when your first lesson is scheduled. No later than the first day of the private lesson.
